Opportunity Cost

We often talk about the cost of owning a home, stressing that though it’s one of the larger expenses you’ll make in your life, it’s a lasting and worthwhile investment, that there are necessary costs to properly maintaining your home, and that there is a certain cost to pay for quality and to get what you want in a home. However, we can argue that the cost of not owning a home is far greater and will always be. You’re missing out on tax benefits, paying more in rent which is of no financial benefit, and likewise, keeping yourself from a hedge against inflation. These, among other reasons, are important to consider when deciding whether or not to become a homeowner. Owning a home is an investment that keeps on giving and in our experience, now is really a great time to be a homeowner!
