As experienced Realtors, we understand how important it is for our clients to understand the due processes and associated costs with closing a real estate contract. Preventing surprises, both monetarily and legally, is something we aim to do from the very start of the process. Luckily, the ‘Know Before You Owe,’ initiative aims to educate consumers and give them a full understanding of the entire process. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and National Association of Realtors (NAR) released a new set of online tools to help consumers get better acquainted with what the ‘Know Before You Owe’ initiative means for them.
The new tools are intended to improve consumers understanding of the mortgage process, aid in comparison shopping and help prevent surprises at the closing table. The new rule changes go into effect on October 3rd and you can read more about this news and the initiative here. Knowledge is power, people!
I can’t say that I’ve ever met anyone who didn’t like the cozy warm feeling of Fall. The leaves changing, the sweaters coming out of the closet, the pumpkin spiced lattes being guzzled down, and the beautiful and inviting home decorations to welcome the season are all reasons to love it. A lot of people out there believe that Summer is the best time to sell your home – the days are longer, people have more free time, and the Summer landscapes can make a huge impression on potential buyers, but think about it: what better time to show off your home than in peak seasonal fashion, ripe with an invitation to walk in the front door and imagine yourself in its splendor. It’s easier for potential homebuyers to get a feel for the home when they can picture themselves in it and staging your home with all of the Fall essentials can make that a piece of pumpkin pie for your buyers. Here are some great tips on how to do it. Happy Fall!

This week in Real Estate news, we’re getting prepped for the new mandate ordered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Development for home inspections. This will take effect beginning September 14th and will require lenders to inform borrowers when they first meet to get a home inspection prior to purchasing a home. Though home inspections are often viewed as a major pain in the homebuying process, this mandate can ultimately protect you and your investment, ensuring that your purchase is protected and any foreseeable issues are common knowledge from the get-go.
